Kogi State Recovers 53 Stolen Transformers
In a significant development, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State has revealed the successful recovery of 53 stolen transformers from the state.
This declaration emphasises the government’s unwavering commitment to combating crime in the North-Central region.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Ismaila Isah, the Special Adviser on Media to the governor, Ododo emphasised the recovery as a testament to his administration’s proactive stance against criminal activities within the state.
The transformers, originally pilfered from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) facility in Kogi State, were intercepted from a gang of criminals apprehended in Obajana while en route to Lagos State.
Isah highlighted that the 53 electrical transformers, currently housed at an Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) facility within the state, may have hindered the timely installation of these essential utilities in various communities earlier this year.
Providing further insight, the statement revealed that the apprehended criminals cooperated with authorities, leading to the arrest of a fleeing gang member in Ilorin, Kwara State, and the identification of the alleged recipient of the stolen transformers in Lagos State.
Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s steadfast resolve to eradicate crime and ensure the safety of citizens and property across Kogi State.
He pledged full support to security agencies, underscoring the government’s commitment to bolstering security measures.
In addition, he commended the unwavering dedication of security operatives operating within the state, applauding their consistent efforts in safeguarding the populace.
