Dangote Refinery Denies Receiving Payments from IPMAN, Clarifies No Direct Dealings

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has clarified that it has not received any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for refined petroleum products.

In a statement issued by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, the refinery stated that discussions with IPMAN are still ongoing.

“It is misleading to claim that IPMAN members are struggling to load products from our refinery, as we currently have no direct transactions with them. Therefore, we cannot be held accountable for any payments made to third parties,” the statement explained.

The statement further clarified that any payments in question have been routed through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, not directly to Dangote Refinery.

“Additionally, NNPCL has not authorised or instructed us to supply Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.”

The refinery affirmed its capability to meet Nigeria’s demand for petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel.

“We have the capacity to load 2,900 trucks per day, and we are also distributing products via sea routes. We encourage IPMAN to register directly with us and arrange payments directly, as we have ample supplies to meet their members’ needs.”

The statement advised stakeholders to avoid making speculative claims in the media, noting that this could hinder economic progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“For the good of the country, we urge all parties to work together and follow President Tinubu’s guidance, fostering a collaborative and positive approach instead of engaging in media conflicts and unproductive propaganda.”
