Wike revokes 4,794 land titles in FCT over non-payment of ground rents

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has revoked the land titles of four thousand, seven hundred and ninety-four (4794) property owners in ten districts of the nation’s capital over non-payment of ground rents for over ten years.
The Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media Lere Olayinka made this disclosure while briefing journalists at the FCT administration’s headquarters in Abuja. Lere explained that over six billion naira is owed to the FCTA by eight thousand, three and seventy-five property owners who are yet to pay their ground rent.
He also announced the extension of the grace period for over 3,500 landowners to pay their outstanding debt or risk revocation.

Areas affected include Central Business District, Garki 1 and 2, Wuse 1 and 2, Maitama, Asokoro, and Guzape.

The Pan Delta Forum (PANDEF) youth wing has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Nyeson Wike, to retract his disparaging remarks against the Ijaw nation and PANDEF leaders.
According to the youth wing’s national president, Doben Donyegha, Wike’s remarks were embarrassing and annoying, especially coming less than 24 hours after PANDEF’s delegation met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has set up a committee to address the influx of Almajiris in the the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Olatunji Disu, made this known while briefing newsmen after a closed-door security meeting chaired by the FCT Minister.
According to the police commissioner, the move by the minister is to ensure security agencies are abreast with details of Almajiris, especially their activities which include welfare and schooling.
While dismissing questions bordering on security threats in the nation’s capital, Disu urged residents to be security conscious and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
The committee which comprises the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Service, DSS, among others, have been mandated to report back within two weeks.
